Larian Studios, the developer behind the highly anticipated game Baldur’s Gate 3, has provided an update on the future of its popular series Divinity and assured fans that there will be more to come.
In an interview with IGN, CEO Swen Vincke stated that they will definitely return to the Divinity series at some point. Vincke highlighted that while Divinity: Original Sin is Larian Studios’ own creation, Baldur’s Gate 3 is set in the renowned Dungeons & Dragons universe.
Vincke emphasized that the team has dedicated six years of development to Baldur’s Gate 3, pouring all of their efforts into making it a truly exceptional game. He acknowledged the need for a creative refresh after completing Baldur’s Gate 3 and expressed confidence in returning to the Divinity series in the future.
Vincke highlighted the dedication and passion of the team, consisting of 400 developers, who have put their hearts and souls into creating Baldur’s Gate 3. This game has the potential to set a new standard for RPGs in the industry.
Meanwhile, Divinity: Original Sin 2 was a huge success for Larian Studios when it was released for PC in 2017, followed by a Definitive Edition for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2018. The game received numerous nominations at The Game Awards and the D.I.C.E. Awards for its excellence in role-playing and narrative design.
Furthermore, a Humble Game Bundle titled “Baldur’s Gate & Beyond” is currently raising funds for the mental health support charity, Active Minds. The bundle includes the Enhanced Editions of Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate 2, and two DLCs, Neverwinter Nights: Complete Adventures, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition.
In addition, Vincke advised players of Baldur’s Gate 3 to create their own character in order to fully immerse themselves in the game and experience the compelling storylines of the origin characters.
