Elon Musk wants creators to make money from Twitter, here’s how

Twitter, a micro-blogging platform owned by Elon Musk and recently rebranded as X, has introduced a new feature that allows users to share revenue from ads displayed in replies to their posts. This feature aims to help users earn a living directly on X. Creators on the platform can now set up ads revenue sharing and creator subscriptions independently. The feature is available worldwide, including in India, and eligible creators can apply for payouts.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for ads revenue sharing, creators must be subscribed to Twitter Blue or be part of Verified Organizations. Additionally, they need to have at least 15 million impressions on their cumulative posts within the last 3 months and a minimum of 500 followers.

Eligible users who want to claim payment must have a Stripe account, as Twitter uses the Stripe platform for processing payments. They also need to comply with the company’s ads revenue share terms, including monetization standards for creators and X rules. Users can apply for both creator subscriptions and ad revenue sharing by accessing the monetization option in their settings. However, if users violate the ads revenue share terms, they will be excluded from the program.

How to Claim Payment
To claim payment, users should navigate to the Monetization section of the app. On the iOS or Android app, this option can be found in the side menu, while on the web version, it is available in the overflow menu. Clicking “Join and setup payouts” will redirect users to Twitter’s payment processor, Stripe. Users must set up a Stripe account to receive their share and transfer funds to their external bank account. Payouts are made at regular intervals, and users can initiate payments once they have generated more than $50. Eligible creators who have set up their payout details may receive a payment the week of July 31, provided they meet the criteria and their payout amount exceeds the minimum threshold of $50.
