Oppo F11 Pro Review: Cheapest Phone with Pop-Up Selfie Camera

With most of the smartphone manufacturers presenting their flagship phones with spectacular design, Oppo has also made its appearance with a whole fresh look in 2019 with Oppo F11 Pro. At the end where many other tech giants launching their phones either with a notch or punch-hole display, Oppo has presented its flagship phone with a notch-less display. Oppo F11 Pro is the latest smartphone by Oppo featuring a Pop-up selfie camera. Also, it is priced comparatively lower than that of other smartphones having Pop-up selfie camera. But what about other specifications? Is it really a worth buy phone as there are a lot of alternatives at this price range. Let’s review it to find out.

Build Quality and Design

Oppo F11 Pro features a sleek design with mixed tone color finishing at the back panel. The build quality of F11 Pro is good and is made up to toughen plastic material. The design of this phone is quite similar to that of Oppo Find X which was a revolutionary phone by Oppo. It features a gorgeous display with a very thin-bezels at the sides. While at the bottom it has comparatively thicker bezels than that of its sides. As of now, Oppo F11 Pro is available in two colors – Thunder Black and Aurora Green.

Furthermore, On the top of the display, there sits a very thin earpiece between the frame and the display. Ust besides the earpiece, the proximity sensor is kept which is almost invisible. At the topmost of the frame, a secondary microphone and ambient light sensor are placed just beside the Pop-up camera. On the sides of the display, there is a power button sits on the right side while the volume buttons are placed on the left. In addition to the power button, the Hybrid SIM card slot also settles on the right panel of the phone just above the power button.

At the bottom of the frame, there placed a Micro-USB port along with a microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack, and loudspeaker grille. Having a Micro-USB charging port is one of its downsides as you get eventually a faster USB Type-C port on devices lower than the price of this phone.

At the front, Oppo F11 Pro sports a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution Full-View display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio which is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. To add extra protection, Oppo ships this phone with a pre-applied screen protector and a protective case in the box. It doesn’t hold a notch and carry a Pop-up selfie camera which is used to capture selfies and for facial recognization.

At the back, it holds a dual camera setup with an LED flash positioned at the top-center of the body. Just below the camera module, there placed is a physical fingerprint sensor.

Specification and Software

Along with stunning design and display, Oppo F11 Pro is packed up with good specifications also. The all new Oppo F11 Pro is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 SoC with four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. Further, it is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 256GB via a MicroSD card. However, you need to drop your second SIM if you want to expand the storage as this phone carries a Hybrid SIM slot.

This is a bit strange that the Oppo F11 comes with a 128GB storage variants but the Pro version still holds on to the 64GB storage. Moreover, connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE support with dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, USB OTG, GPS/GLONASS, and a couple of sensors such as a compass, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and gyroscope.

The Oppo F11 Pro runs on the company’s latest ColorOS 6 which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box. Oppo has finally shipped its smartphone with the latest UI as before this each and every phone by Oppo were shipped with older ColorOS 5.2 which was based on Android 8 Oreo. The new UI offers a fresh and clean look. Along with fresh UI, this phone is shipped with a couple of pre-installed apps including Oppo AppStore, Music Party, and ORoaming, as well as Facebook, UC Browser, PayTM, Wynk Music, Dailyhunt, Webnovel, NewsPoint, Amazon Shopping, and ShareChat.

Performance, Camera, and Battery Life

The Oppo F11 Pro features the same processor as one found in the Realme U1 and Realme 3. MediaTek Helio P70 works amazing without any sign of lags while doing multitasking. One can easily scroll through a couple of apps without any lag, thanks to its huge 6GB RAM. Also, the gaming performance of this phone is great. We have played PUBG for about half an hour at Balanced Graphics with a balanced setting and got negligible lag. In addition, the fingerprint sensor responds very quickly, however, the Face recognization is a bit slower than fingerprint sensor as it invests a few seconds in bumping the camera up to recognize the face.

Now coming on the Camera’s performance, Oppo F11 Pro houses a dual rear camera setup at the back with a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 5-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there placed a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. This phone features a lot of camera features including slow-motion recording, bokeh mode with multiple portrait lighting effects, Night mode, Time-Lapse. The new Chroma Boost feature is also enabled with the HDR mode.

Oppo F11 Pro delivers great performance during daylight. It captures pictures with good details and depth with great accuracy. The bokeh mode works amazing and delivers great performance. Edge-detection works very fast and instantly blurs the background in bokeh mode. It also captures fairly good pictures in a low-light situation, however, sharpness can be improved in the low-light pictures.

By default, the camera selection is switched to 12MP setup which captures great shots. While switching to the maximum resolution i.e., 48-megapixel some of the features get automatically disabled like Chroma Boost, HDR, filters, beautification, AI Scene Recognition, continuous shooting, and even zooming. Another downside of this phone is it doesn’t support 4K video recording which is usually available on smartphones at this price segment. The maximum video input is limited up to 1080p which is quite unsatisfactory.

Now, the 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera also delivers great performance. It is bundled with some AI-beautification tools which works great. They perfectly read your skin tone and brushed them with fairly great beautification setup. The camera captures good pictures with a great mixture of vibrant and details.

As far its Battery backup is concerned, Oppo F11 Pro features a huge 34,000mAh battery, which gives a battery backup of around 18 hours on heavy usage. However, on average usage, it easily lasts for a whole day. Also, it comes with 20W VOOC charger in the box which charges this phone with lightning speed. At our tests, it made to charge completely from zero to full in 1 hour 40 minutes. At the first half, it takes around 35 minutes to charge 50 percents but the next half took longer time. Overall, the battery performance of oppo F11 Pro is impressive.

Verdict

If you are looking for a phone with a pop-up camera under a great price segment, Oppo F11 Pro is made just for you. It is the cheapest phone available in the market with a pop-up camera priced at just Rs 24,990. However, if you are focusing on Specifications, you might love Redmi Note 7 Pro as it also holds a 48-megapixel camera setup at the back just like Oppo F11 Pro and is available at a far cheaper price than this phone.
