Get Ready for the Pinball FX Experience on Switch!
Prepare to dive into the world of pinball on the Nintendo Switch, as Zen Studios has confirmed the release of Pinball FX on July 6, 2023.
This release isn’t just another iteration of Pinball FX; it’s a complete reboot. While you can already play Pinball FX3 on the Switch, Pinball FX offers a fresh experience built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 4. Unfortunately, this means your tables from the previous Pinball FX games won’t carry over, which may disappoint some fans.
The exciting news is that Pinball FX is free to play, allowing you a one-day pass to try out everything. Afterward, you’ll have unlimited access to three tables – West Rampage, Fish Tales, and Sorcerer’s Lair. Additional tables can be purchased individually or in small bundles. While the Switch version will not initially include the option to buy pinball coins or a pinball pass, it introduces 21 new tables exclusive to the platform.
I can’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment that Zen Studios acquired the Williams and Bally licenses, which were previously held by Farsight Studios for their game, Pinball Arcade. Pinball Arcade was beloved for its faithfulness to the original tables, but unfortunately, it lost those licenses and never fully recovered. However, Zen Studios has shown improvement in capturing the authenticity, so maybe it’s time for me to finally make the switch. Still, it’s a bittersweet decision.
Pinball FX is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms, with the release on Switch scheduled for July 6, 2023.
