Saturday Night Live host Nate Bargatze sheds his “Mr. Nice Guy” persona, gets edgier and goes “Hollywood” in the following midweek sketch.

Heading into this weekend’s Halloween edition of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Season 49 kicked things off with a strong, solid start from SNL alum Pete Davidson (Peacock’s Bupkis) and musical guest Ice Spice before taking a few steps back this past weekend with host/musical guest Bad Bunny. No pressure, first-time host/stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze and musical guest Foo Fighters. Along with offering an “SNL Rewind” looking back at the Foo Fighters’ previous appearances (beginning with the 90s), we’ve also been keeping track of the SNL promo machine for this weekend’s festivities. And that brings us to the midweek sketch – ahead of tonight’s look at how read-thru is going.

In the following clip, SNL’s stars Andrew Dismukes & Devon Walker remind Bargatze that he’s the host – which means he’s the “star” this week. Well, it looks like that’s all that “Mr. Nice Guy” needed to hear to be more “Hollywood” and “edgy” – and it starts with the newest cast member, Chloe Troast, and a cup of coffee – and it gets a whole lot uglier from there:

Here’s a look back to the start of this week’s PR machine for this weekend’s SNL, followed by a Q&A with the long-running sketch comedy/music series’ newest cast member:

In the following “New Cast Q&A,” Troast gets a chance to “speed round” a whole bunch of questions that help give us a better idea of what we can expect from Troast this season so definitely check it out:

NBC’s Saturday Night Live Season 49 company includes Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson, Chloe Troast, Devon Walker, and Bowen Yang. SNL is executive-produced by Lorne Michaels, with Liz Patrick directing and SNL alum Darrell Hammond announcing. Broadcasting from Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, the long-running late-night sketch comedy/music series is produced by SNL Studios in association with Universal Television and Broadway Video.
