Triumph the Insult Comic Dog & Robert Smigel’s latest report from the SAG-AFTRA/WGA picket line takes on CSI: Miami, PAW Patrol, Love Is Blind & more.

While there may be some cautious optimism regarding recent developments between the writers’ union and the AMPTP, the reality is that the SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes continue to rage on until the AMPTP comes to its senses. However, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog & his handler Robert Smigel (Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O’Brien) will be there to document how things are progressing on the picket lines. This time, their targets include CSI: Miami, Squid Game, PAW Patrol, Love Is Blind, and more.

Here is the latest report from Triumph & Smigel on the strike picket lines, along with a look back at their previous reports and a recap of the “arrest thing” that happened in 2022 (if you missed it, get ready for a pop culture history lesson):

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog Honors #HappyArrestaversary

In June of this year, Triumph & Smigel paid tribute to the one-year anniversary of their arrest by U.S. Capitol Police after recording a segment for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. After a month, they learned that they wouldn’t face charges for being in a restricted area without proper identification and escort. Triumph shares a clip from 2022 when Tucker Carlson tried to equate what they did with the events of January 6th at the U.S. Capitol. Triumph points out that Carlson’s criticism of President Joe Biden as a “wannabe dictator” is nothing new. It’s a continuation of his usual conspiracy theories.

A Look Back at “The Arrest”…

In June 2022, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and his team were arrested by U.S. Capitol Police after filming a segment for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The arrests sparked controversy and statements were made regarding the circumstances of the incident. The U.S. Capitol Police stated that the group was found in a restricted area without proper identification and had been directed to leave the building earlier in the day. Ultimately, the group was charged with unlawful entry, but they were not prosecuted. Here are some preliminary posts via Triumph’s Twitter account from that day:

For their part, the U.S. Capital Police said in a statement that the group was confronted by police in the Longworth House Office Building at around 8:30 pm ET on Thursday night after the area was closed to visitors. “Responding officers observed seven individuals, unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway. The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day,” read the statement, along with confirmation from the USCP that the group was charged with unlawful entry. “This is an active criminal investigation and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney,” the statement continued. In this clip from 2020, distinguished journalist Triumph reported from Washington, D.C., amid unprecedented restrictions that were being placed on the access that the press was getting for President Trump’s impeachment trial:
