League of Legends Introduces a Fusion of TFT and Apex Legends in New Game Mode

Imagine yourself as a minion in the League of Legends TFT universe, surrounded by the closing Apex Legends ring. That’s the concept behind Riot’s latest game mode for the iconic MOBA called Arena. In this mode, you participate in 2v2 battles with a variety of other duos, where League of Legends champions are transformed into adorable, miniature versions of themselves.

In your duo, you’ll engage in combat against another pair in a rotating fashion. First, there’s a ban phase, followed by a blind pick phase where you can’t see your opponents’ champions. This means you might end up facing mirror matches of your own team, leading to chaos and unpredictability.

However, I must admit that Arena does bear some resemblance to TFT, Riot’s auto battler inspired by League of Legends. It incorporates powerful Augments, a shop phase, and prescribed battle phases. The main difference is that Soul Fighter champions like Evelynn, Gwen, Jhin, Lux, Naafiri, Pyke, Samira, Sett, Shaco, and Viego can intervene in battles, potentially impacting the outcome positively or negatively depending on the situation.

Starting from the fourth round, you’ll witness familiar faces wreaking havoc in your games. For instance, Evelynn grants all players camouflage, Pyke randomly uses his Phantom Undertow (E) on a player, Viego temporarily takes over the body of any player who dies, and Jhin unleashes his curtain call, alternating his shots on two victims.

But there’s more to it. Every 40 seconds, a massive fiery ring encloses around the arena, gradually shrinking every ten seconds and inflicting increasing max percentage health true damage. It’s a fusion of Apex Legends, League of Legends, and TFT – quite a mouthful in one breath.

To counteract the ring’s damage, Power Flowers are scattered across the arena, reminiscent of Mario mixed with LoL, TFT, and Apex. These flowers can provide significant healing, shielding, or cooldown refunds, making them valuable resources to fight for.

There are multiple maps to explore, various unique items and Augments to choose from – it genuinely sounds like an exhilarating experience. As someone who has grown a bit tired of uncontrollable snowballing in botlane 2v2s, I’m genuinely excited to give this mode a try, especially since it involves Evelynn, whom I adore.

Before diving into the new event, be sure to check out our LoL tier list to warm up in solo queue. We also have detailed information on the latest League of Legends skins, including the highly anticipated Star Guardian Seraphine and Senna, as well as the new Soul Fighter cosmetics.
