Retimer chips are commonly found in Thunderbolt 4 and USB-4 devices and are responsible for reconstructing signals and reducing signal jitter. ChargerLAB’s discovery of a potential retimer chip on the iPhone 15 PCB suggests that the USB-C port on Apple’s future devices will be capable of high data transfer speeds.
However, there are ongoing rumors suggesting that the USB-C port on the iPhone may have limitations when it comes to charging and data transfer with non-Apple certified accessories.
