iPhone 15 to feature upgraded 48-megapixel camera, better low-light performance

Apple is rumored to be planning improvements to the rear camera array on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.

According to a recent tweet from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the lower-end iPhone 15 models will feature a redesigned 48-megapixel rear camera with stacked sensor technology, resulting in enhanced low-light performance.

Furthermore, Kuo predicts that the adoption of this new Sony CMOS image sensor will allow Apple to increase production of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus by 100-120 percent. This increased demand may have an impact on the availability of camera components for Android device manufacturers.

If the idea of a 48-megapixel sensor coming to the iPhone sounds familiar, you’re not mistaken.
Apple introduced a new 48-megapixel camera sensor with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, while the iPhone 14 and
iPhone 14 Plus still had a 12-megapixel camera.

Typically, features that debut on the Pro model iPhones eventually make their way to the base-level device, and it seems this may
be the case with the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup.

The larger sensor in the Pro models enables the camera to capture more detail and supports Apple’s ProRAW file format, allowing
for greater post-production editing capabilities.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 series in the upcoming fall season.
