iOS and Android’s Battle Stars Multiplayer Shooter Adds Local Characters and Maps

Battle Stars, the online multiplayer shooter game developed by Pune-based SuperGaming, is prioritizing localisation to establish its Indian identity by adding exciting new features to the game. At a recent event held in Mumbai, Super Gaming partnered with widely-popular content creator Techno Gamerz (Ujjwal Chaurasia) to introduce a new playable character based on the creator. The game, which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android, features in-app purchases.

New Indian characters and map on Battle Stars

SuperGaming introduced two new playable characters at a Today at Apple event held at the new Apple BKC store in Mumbai. The first one named “Techno” is based on content creator Techno Gamerz, who is famous for his gaming videos on YouTube and has over 33 million subscribers.

The Techno character comes with custom messages and banter based on Ujjwal Chaurasia’s image and identity, a unique weapon and a “Techno Quest” objective-based quest that reflects his character. Ujjwal Chaurasia expressed his admiration for SuperGaming’s attention to detail in developing the game character, saying, “When SuperGaming showed me how I looked in-game, I was super impressed. From subtle animations to my poses and even my mannerisms, there is a lot of care and attention to detail.”

Additionally, SuperGaming introduced a second playable character called “Patil,” resembling a Mumbai police officer. SuperGaming plans to introduce another Mumbai-based female playable character in the near future, along with a new map heavily inspired by Mumbai landmarks. The game will also feature new emotes based on Mumbai lingo.

“Battle Stars takes advantage of our expertise in real-time multiplayer and incorporates Techno Gamerz as a playable hero to entertain players in-game, which showcases a significant opportunity in India for locally-developed top-quality games,” said Roby John, CEO and co-founder of SuperGaming, in a statement sent via email. Recently, SuperGaming secured investment from Bandai Namco and is working on its upcoming battle royale game ‘Indus’, with Android users already having the option to sign up for the game’s pre-registration page to receive updates ahead of its release.
