This week’s Toledo City Council meeting started an hour early with a presentation from Aureon Fiber Optics and hosted unified communication. The presentation was about Aureon possibly supplying new internet and phones for the city.

During the regular meeting, the council discussed Aureon and decided on going with them. They approved five-year contracts for both internet and phone. The council also heard a review of the FY23 Audit. Everything sounded good, and they moved on.

A change to the comp time policy was made, upping the 40 hour limit to 80.

The public works department reported that they’ve been plowing snow and working on equipment. They also reported that the new truck is almost ready.

They helped some with a water leak over the weekend. They’ve also received complaints about sidewalk snow removal along Highway 63 between Ross and Madison. Director Kendall Jordan described the snow there as “a bear to clean.” So, they decided to let those who live in the area leave the snow and also to have the school bus stop move from the area for the time being.

Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between Jan. 8 and 21st, they received 112 calls for service and made seven arrests. The officers are becoming recertified with their CPR/AED training. Also, one possible applicant for an open officer position passed his physical agility test.

The clerk has been working hard before she goes out on leave for surgery.
