Internet in Stitches as Cockatoo Is Mad at Owner for Being on the Phone

Birds are among the most popular pets in America. In fact, about 6.1 million households have at least one. While these animals may not sit on your lap and play fetch with you like dogs, they are still incredibly entertaining and funny.

A cockatoo called Tango has left the internet in stitches after a clip of him telling his owner off for being on his phone too much went viral on social media. In the clip shared on TikTok in November under the username Tango.the.cockatoo, the bird can be seen having a meltdown as his owner scrolls through his phone instead of paying attention to him.

During the hilarious two-and-a-half-minute-long video, the bird can be heard yelling at the top of his lungs at his owner, who’s just trying to write an email, before apologizing for his behavior right at the end of the clip, after his owner finally gives him some attention.

According to PetMD, birds are all different, not just in looks but also in personality. That’s why you need to figure out which type of bird would suit you more before getting one as a pet.

Cockatoos are medium-sized parrots, notorious for their constant need for attention from their owners, so much so that some people describe living with a cockatoo as like living with a two-year-old child that never grows up

The website explains: “These birds are extremely affectionate and often have an obsessive need to be with their owners, and not just in the same room, rather to be physically with their humans. They can be very vocal and make their displeasure known from across the house. However, they are also very intelligent as well as emotional. These birds are capable of swinging from a total temper tantrum to absolute silliness in the blink of an eye.

Moreover, cockatoos have a lifespan of over 30 years, which means that potential parents need to be prepared to have a long-term commitment.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 14.6 million views and 840,800 likes on the platform.

One user, Lisa Randall Morris, commented: “I have had a cockatoo before. it’s like having a toddler for 70 years.” And Elizabeth Banuelos said: “He is cursing at you in cockatoo.” user9279560920436 added: “I’m fairly certain I heard him cursing in English. Lol.”

Myisland_angel wrote: “The parrot is not only yelling, but having a full-blown conversation with the guy! Wow!”

Newsweek reached out to Tango.the.cockatoo for comment via TikTok chat. We could not verify the details of the case.
