The woman reportedly received a phone call from a number she had saved in her contacts as PNC Bank, per WPXI.

The woman told police that when she picked up the phone, someone claiming to be a PNC Bank representative was on the other line.

According to police, the woman was transferred to several other people who told her fraudulent charges were attempted on her account.

The people on the other line told the woman that to stop this, she needed to send money.

She then proceeded to send two people a total of $1,700 using Zelle and Venmo.

There has been no information on whether the woman got her money back or if she contacted PNC.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to PNC Bank for comment.

The U.S. Sun previously reported on a similar story where a PNC Bank customer lost nearly all of her life savings.

Marjorie Bloom, 77, lost most of her $661,000 life savings after she contacted a “fraud investigator” when a popup window froze her computer.

A number, claiming to be a Microsoft customer support phone number appeared on the screen for her to call, to which she was put in contact with an alleged “fraud investigator.”

She liquidated her nest egg, which included savings, stocks, and annuity after the “fraud investigator” told her there was fraud happening within her bank account.

In May 2022, Bloom sued PNC Bank for full financial restitution and other damages.

Bloom and PNC settled the lawsuit in September 2023 for an undisclosed amount.

Bloom regularly receives federal pension payments.

“I’m not starving but I could do a lot more [if I hadn’t lost money],” she said.
