Healthcare Professionals: Google launches new AI features for healthcare professionals

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more and more prevalent and one of the companies leading the charge is Google. After announcing and implement AI across its apps, products and services. Now, Google has announced new generative AI features for healthcare. In a blog post, two Google executives Aashima Gupta, global director, Healthcare Strategy & Solutions, and Lisa O’Malley senior director, Product Management, Cloud AI In healthcare, detailed all that Google is introducing in healthcare
“AI is the most exciting technology we are working on today. From assisting clinicians with documentation, to streamlining operations, to accelerating medical research, to helping doctors detect diseases earlier, this remarkable technology holds the potential to reshape our world and promote healthier, more fulfilling lives,” the executives said.
The idea, according to Google, is to help people find the right information and gain insights from it. “Ultimately, this enables healthcare organisations to run more effectively, clinicians to work more efficiently, and improves patient care,” said Gupta and O’Malley.
According to Google, healthcare workers often struggle to find insights in clinical data across structured and unstructured data stores. The data can be hard to find and often critical information can be missed. Furthermore, clinical knowledge is vital to know what data is important. Google wants to fix this using gen AI.
Vertex AI Search: For healthcare professionals
Google is giving access to Google Cloud customers, who can sign-up now for early access to Vertex AI Search features for healthcare and life science companies.
“With these new features, healthcare organisations will now have Google-quality gen AI search that is medically tuned, allowing users to find accurate clinical information much more efficiently, and to search a broad spectrum of data from clinical sources, such as FHIR data, and clinical notes, and medical data in electronic health records (EHRs),” noted the two Google executives.
According to Google, life-science organisations can use these features to enhance scientific communications and streamline processes. “This builds on Vertex AI Search’s current ability to search documents, external websites and other data sources. Vertex AI Search for healthcare and life sciences integrates with Google Cloud’s Healthcare API and Healthcare Data Engine, and includes Google Health’s search and intelligent summarisation capabilities from its pilot product Care Studio,” the executives added.
