Google Calendar introduces Focus Time feature, allowing users to mute notifications

To enhance users’ ability to concentrate during their focus sessions, Google has introduced a new feature in Calendar. This feature allows users to mute notifications while they are in their focus time. It serves as a connection between the Do Not Disturb feature in Google Chat and the Focus Time feature in Calendar. By muting notifications, users can improve their concentration and eliminate distractions, resulting in increased productivity.

Google Calendar Introduces Mute Notifications for Focus Time
The new setting in Google Calendar enables users to seamlessly integrate their focus time with the “do not disturb” (DnD) feature in Google Chat. Previously, users could designate focus time through the focus time entry type in Calendar, and when combined with DnD in Chat, they could protect their uninterrupted work periods. With this new update, users can take it a step further by muting Chat notifications directly from their Calendar during their focus time.

Availability
This feature is available for users of Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Business Standard, Business Plus, Education Standard, Education Plus, and Nonprofits.

Rollout Details
The rollout of this feature will be implemented gradually. Rapid Release domains will have a gradual rollout with up to 15 days for feature visibility, starting on June 28. For Scheduled Release domains, the gradual rollout will begin on July 12 with the same visibility timeline. This phased approach ensures a smooth implementation and allows Google to address any potential issues that may arise.

In other news, Google has introduced a new feature for Meet – Q&A and Polls. This feature was previously available for regular meetings and now allows users to collaborate more effectively during live-streamed meetings.
