GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Launched, GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs Announced at CES 2023

Nvidia has recently unveiled the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti desktop GPU, a powerful graphics card that bears striking resemblance to its previously announced but yet-to-be-released counterpart, the GeForce RTX 4080 (12GB). The tech giant was forced to backtrack on its initial launch due to the confusingly similar name shared with the GeForce RTX 4080 (16GB), despite the notable differences between the two models. In response to customer protests and the negative media coverage surrounding the potential for deliberate confusion, Nvidia made the decision to “unlaunch” the product, even after OEMs had already prepared their related products and marketing materials.

The new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will be made available through Nvidia’s OEM partners, and the company will also directly sell its Founders Edition graphics card. In India, it will be priced at Rs. 80,000, which is actually lower than its anticipated price in its previous iteration. In the United States, the card will be sold for $799, a $100 reduction from the initially announced price.

Boasting identical specifications and performance ratings as its ill-fated predecessor, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is underpinned by the cutting-edge Ada Lovelace architecture of the current generation. It is said to surpass the performance of the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, showcasing 7,680 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X RAM on a 192-bit bus. Furthermore, it possesses a TDP rating of 285W. Nvidia is vigorously promoting its DLSS 3.0 technology, which provides exceptional upscaling capabilities for gaming. In addition to gaming, this GPU also boasts a 70% improvement in performance for content creation applications compared to the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, along with a 2X speed boost when exporting edited videos.

While Nvidia has not disclosed any information regarding the release date of the more affordable mainstream GeForce RTX 40-series desktop GPUs, the company did unveil an extensive lineup of mobile GPUs during its virtual CES 2023 keynote. These include the GeForce RTX 4090, GeForce RTX 4080, GeForce RTX 4070, GeForce RTX 4060, and GeForce RTX 4050, which are touted to be up to three times more power-efficient. CES and the upcoming months will witness the announcement of laptops based on these designs, featuring flagship models starting at a price of $1,999 in the US (approximately Rs. 1,65,455 before taxes) from February 8 onward. Mainstream models will go on sale beginning February 22, priced at $999 (approximately Rs. 82,685).

Furthermore, Nvidia’s fifth-generation Max-Q optimization technology promises enhanced performance for slim and lightweight laptops, along with improved battery life, thanks to more refined power state switching for memory.
