Game Pass users may face a slight increase in cost, but PC players need not fret

As the roster of games available on Game Pass continues to evolve, players often wonder which games they can enjoy while subscribed. While Microsoft frequently updates the game selection, they have never made changes to the subscription price. However, that is about to change. For the first time ever, Microsoft has decided to raise the monthly price of both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This news comes as Game Pass is set to include highly anticipated PC games like Starfield, making it one of the most popular subscription services on the market.

PC gamers need not worry too much, as only Xbox Game Pass will be affected by the price increase. However, Game Pass Ultimate, which works on both console and desktop, will also see a rise in price and could impact PC players. The base Game Pass for Xbox will go up from $9.99 (£7.99) to $10.99 (£8.99) per month, while Game Pass Ultimate will now be $16.99 (£12.99) instead of $14.99 (£10.99) per month.

If you are a dual-platform subscriber, you will now be paying two dollars more per month for Ultimate. In addition to the price hike for Game Pass, Microsoft is also increasing the price of the Xbox Series X. According to a statement given to The Verge, the head of communications at Xbox mentioned that the company had “held on our prices for consoles for many years and have adjusted the prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market.”

Current subscribers of the affected PC Game Pass will not see the price change until Sunday, August 13. New monthly subscribers will experience the price change on Thursday, July 6. If you pay for your subscription yearly instead of monthly, you will only notice the price difference when you renew your subscription. It’s worth noting that players in Chile, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia will not face any price increases at all.
