Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5 screens won’t survive as long under certain weather conditions

According to Samsung’s recent infographic, the durability of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is influenced by temperature. At a comfortable 77 degrees Fahrenheit, these foldables can withstand up to 200,000 folds. However, in scorching-hot temperatures of 140 degrees, which are highly unlikely in most regions, their durability decreases to 150,000 folds each.
Conversely, extreme cold weather greatly affects the folding capabilities of the new foldables. At freezing -4 degrees Fahrenheit, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are only rated to handle 30,000 folds. While 140-degree temperatures may not be a concern for users, it’s essential to consider the possibility of -4 degrees Fahrenheit during harsh winter months in certain regions.

With a limit of 30,000 folds, it would translate to approximately 41 folds per day over two years or 27 folds per day over three years. However, unless you reside in a restaurant freezer, it’s unlikely to subject your device to such extreme temperatures consistently for that duration. Samsung’s infographic highlights the innovative “Flex Hinge,” which ensures a smooth and seamless folding experience, with no gaps in the design. Additionally, it showcases the new 3.4-inch cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Furthermore, the infographic highlights that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 incorporates UPC Plus (Under Panel Camera) technology for its inner display. This improved technology allows the front-facing camera to remain discreetly hidden, with more pixels covering the camera, leading to enhanced display quality.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are available for pre-order now, with a release date set for August 11th.
