Several Canadian providers have recently made changes to their data plans. One notable change is that these providers have replaced their $39/mo 20GB plans with $39/mo 10GB plans.
Fido, a subsidiary of Rogers, was the first to make this change. They initially offered a $39/20GB plan, but then switched it to a $39/10GB plan with a bonus 10GB of data. However, the bonus offer ended on June 19th, so now Fido customers have access to a $39/10GB plan. It’s important to note that Fido actually charges $44/mo for this plan, but customers can “save” $5/mo by signing up for automatic payments.

Now, other providers like Telus’ Koodo and Bell’s Virgin have followed suit and also changed their $39/20GB plans to $39/10GB plans. Interestingly, Koodo still presents the $39/10GB offer as a promotion, indicating that it may not be a permanent plan.

Aside from the data, these plans include the typical features provided by these companies, such as unlimited Canada-wide calling and messaging, voicemail, call display, and more.

If you missed out on the $39/20GB plan, don’t worry. Freedom Mobile initially offered this plan, which prompted other providers to match the offer. As of now, Freedom still has the $39/20GB plan available. It’s also available at other providers like Telus’ Public Mobile.
However, it’s best to avoid signing up for the $39/10GB plan from Fido, Koodo, or Virgin Plus. Paying $39 for 10GB isn’t a good deal when the 20GB plan was available just a day ago.
