Despite its absence from the Summer Game Fest, Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second part of the FF7 Remake series. With its scheduled launch date inching closer, Square Enix has hinted that the demo may drop post the Summer Game Fest event hosted today. Back in May, the company had revealed that the FF16 demo would be released a few weeks before its official release on June 22, which, therefore, makes it likely that we may get to play it today. Even if not, Square Enix might still use this event as an opportunity to share the demo release date. The demo will place gamers in the shoes of Clive, the protagonist, during his formative years.
The storyline of the game is set in an “epic dark fantasy” world, focusing on the fate of its inhabitants who are at the mercy of the “mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them.” The story will follow Clive Rosfield, a warrior who has sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive encounters a tragic incident that leads him to seek revenge on Ifrit, the Dark Eikon that has brought much calamity with it.
Furthermore, Square Enix’s creative director, Tetsuya Nomura, confirmed that more details about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would be revealed soon.
