Xbox exclusive Redfall has been a big surprise in 2023, though not for the right reasons like Dead Island 2. Unfortunately, the game was launched with disappointing reviews due to bland world and uninspired gameplay, leading to concerns among Xbox fans that upcoming exclusive Starfield may face the same fate. However, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, says that Microsoft has allocated more resources to Starfield.
In an interview with the Kinda Funny XCast, Spencer revealed that Microsoft didn’t engage with Redfall studio Arkane Austin as well as they could have. He believes that Microsoft needs to improve in engaging with games in mid-way production when they become part of Xbox, to help them understand what it means to be a part of Xbox first-party and use internal resources to help them move along that journey even faster.
Spencer thinks that Microsoft could have provided better help with Unreal Engine during development, as Arkane had previously used different game engines leading to potential issues with the final build. However, Spencer suggests that Microsoft was better at engaging with Bethesda during the making of Starfield, as they were earlier in the development process when the company purchased Bethesda.
Starfield is a brand new role-playing game set in space that lets players explore hundreds of planets in an epic adventure. With Microsoft’s better involvement, gamers are hoping for a much better launch for Starfield, which is sure to be one of the biggest games of the year.
