Unlocking the Potential: Hackers Discover New Method to Run Homebrew Software on Xbox Series X and S in Retail Mode

A renowned hacker group known as UWeaPons Store has once again found a way to run emulated software on Xbox Series X and S consoles. Microsoft had previously closed the loophole that allowed players to run emulated games in the console’s “retail” mode, but it seems that the hackers have found a workaround. The discovery was brought to light by Youtuber Modern Vintage Gamer.

One of the remarkable features of the Xbox Series X and S is the ability to download specific apps from Microsoft’s store, some of which enable players to run emulated games from various systems without the need for modding. The original loophole bypassed the $20 monthly payment required by Microsoft to access the “developer” mode, where the use of such software is permitted. Essentially, an Xbox console could also function as a PlayStation 2, GameCube, Dreamcast, or even a Nintendo Wii, all at no extra cost. Microsoft wasn’t pleased with this.

UWeaPons Store has now discovered another undisclosed loophole. However, the group is reluctant to share their findings openly, fearing an immediate response from Microsoft. Those interested in accessing this forbidden knowledge must subscribe to the group’s Patreon.

Although this loophole doesn’t guarantee its long-term viability, it emphasizes the demand for video game preservation at an affordable level. The message is clear: gamers want to ensure the preservation of video games, a subject that is currently under serious threat.
