Margot Robbie and Vanessa Kirby may currently be the center of attention when it comes to rumors about the MCU’s Invisible Woman, but fans will always have a soft spot for Emily Blunt, even though she has made it clear on multiple occasions that she has no interest in the role.
When John Krasinski was a fan favorite for Mister Fantastic, a role he would have reprised from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, if given the chance, it didn’t take long for the conversation to turn to the possibility of Blunt portraying his onscreen wife.
However, the hopes of Blunt’s fans have been dashed once and for all. In an interview on Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi, the Oppenheimer star indirectly revealed that she wouldn’t be working in 2023, as she wanted to dedicate more time to her children.
“This year, I’m taking a break from work. I had a busy year last year, and my oldest child is turning nine. We’re in the final year of single digits, and I believe that these formative years are crucial. I want to be there for them during this important period.”
Although Fantastic Four isn’t scheduled to start filming until January 2024, Blunt’s time away from the film sets wouldn’t align with the production of the highly anticipated Marvel project. However, it’s safe to assume that even if she were to return to work in 2024, the fact that she has consistently expressed her disinterest in playing the Invisible Woman should put an end to the rumors.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
