Did the update released today by Google fix that annoying bug on your Pixel device?

Google appears to be back on track with its regular schedule. As it’s the first Monday of the month, Google is releasing the monthly security and functional updates for supported Pixel devices, including the Pixel 4a, 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and the Pixel Watch. Let’s dive into the functional updates first, which address bugs and other issues.

The latest update tackles a bug on the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet that affected the connection of Bluetooth keyboards. Additionally, a fix specifically for the Pixel Fold resolves an issue where certain Live Wallpapers appeared incorrectly when the device was held in different orientations. Another bug fix for the Pixel Fold ensures that the lock screen responds correctly. Lastly, the Pixel Fold also benefits from an improvement that resolves an issue where the home screen launcher search input occasionally failed to function.

For the Pixel Tablet, the August update includes a bug fix for flickering and glitches in Hub Mode. In Hub Mode, the tablet functions like a locked and docked device, offering smart display-like features such as controlling smart home devices and a digital picture frame.

Turning to the security updates, the August 1st and August 5th patches address vulnerabilities classified as Critical and High. It is crucial to install this update on any of the supported Pixel devices mentioned earlier, even if no bug fixes were rolled out this month for any Pixel device other than the Pixel Fold. To update your device, navigate to Settings > System > System update.

We anticipate the final stable version of Android 14 to be released sometime this month for the Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, and the Pixel Tablet. If you currently own the Pixel 4a, we highly recommend considering upgrading to one of the Pixel devices mentioned above.
