Diablo IV Breaks Records
Just one day after its official release, Diablo IV, the newest installment in the popular dungeon crawler series from Activision Blizzard, has already surpassed all of its predecessors in sales, making it the fastest-selling game the company has ever released. While exact sales figures are still under wraps, Blizzard announced that players have already spent more than 93 million hours exploring the underworlds of Diablo IV across PC and console platforms in less than a week.
Offering an unprecedented level of customization, players can construct their own unique characters from an array of classes and customize their skills for combating the game’s many demonic enemies. Critics and fans alike have praised Diablo IV, which introduces a new storyline that allows players to take on the Queen of Succubi, Lilith, who is hellbent on revenge against her former lover, archangel Inarius.
Blizzard’s GM for Diablo, Rod Fergusson, called Diablo IV’s release “a moment years in the making,” claiming that it is the “richest story ever told in a Diablo game.” In a nod to the game’s demonic themes, Fergusson added, “Hail Lilith, Blessed Mother.”
Diablo IV is available now for PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms, and Blizzard has announced two upcoming expansion packs to be released in the years ahead.
