Details on the Arrival of The Expanse: A Telltale Series Episode 1 in July

Telltale Games has finally announced the release date for The Expanse: A Telltale Series. This highly anticipated space-themed narrative adventure will launch its first episode on July 27 on various platforms, including PC via Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. The developer has promised a unique and immersive experience unlike anything players have seen before, with the remaining four episodes scheduled to release every two weeks.

Pre-orders for the game will begin on June 1 and will be available for all platforms. However, unlike previous Telltale titles, The Expanse: A Telltale Series offers multiple editions. The Standard Edition is priced at $39.99 (approximately Rs. 3,301), while the Deluxe Edition costs $44.99 (approximately Rs. 3,714) and includes future DLC content.

Although the game is based on the popular Syfy/Amazon Prime Video series of the same name, players can jump right into the game without any prior knowledge. The Expanse: A Telltale Series acts as a prequel to the TV show, with Cara Gee returning to portray the role of Camina Drummer, the head of security at Tycho Station. Players will find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery aboard the Artemis ship, facing mutinies, battling fearsome pirates, and navigating zero-gravity environments with the help of zero-G thrusters and magnetic boots.

In a departure from previous Telltale games, the episodes of The Expanse: A Telltale Series will be released regularly every two weeks, providing a more consistent and timely gaming experience. As for DLC content, details have not been revealed yet, but pre-orders for PC and PlayStation platforms will grant players 24-hour early access. International pricing may vary, so the mentioned currency conversions may not be accurate.

This release marks a significant milestone for Telltale Games, as it is their first new intellectual property since the company’s revival in 2019 by LCG Entertainment. Following their bankruptcy, Telltale experienced massive layoffs and the cancellation of planned releases. The Expanse: A Telltale Series is being developed with support from Deck Nine Games, renowned for their work on the Life is Strange spinoff games.

Alongside The Expanse: A Telltale Series, Telltale Games had another big project in the works, The Wolf Among Us 2. Originally planned for a 2023 release, the game faced delays as the development team switched from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. The sequel takes place six months after the events of the first game, set in a wintry New York City backdrop, where protagonist Bigby Wolf investigates a new mystery involving characters from “The Wizard of Oz” such as Tim-Man and Scarecrow.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series will be available on July 27 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X platforms.
