Pokémon TCG Unveils the Exclusive Charmander and Charmeleon Illustration Rares with an Engaging Evolution Storyline
Pokémon TCG Japan has revealed exciting details about the forthcoming expansion set, Pokémon Card 151. This expansion is based on the original 151 Pokémon from the Kanto region. Notably, it marks the return of the Kadabra card after 21 years of absence. Previously, the iconic magician Uri Geller had filed a lawsuit against the Pokémon Company claiming that Kadabra’s design resembled his spoon-bending technique. The lawsuit has now been resolved, allowing the reintroduction of Kadabra in the TCG. Another unique aspect of this set is that it follows the Pokédex order, deviating from the usual type-based arrangement. The Japanese release date for this set was June 16th. It has been confirmed that English-language collectors can look forward to a special set called Scarlet & Violet – 151 from the Scarlet & Violet era. Today, we will focus on the Charmander Illustration Rare line from this set.
In this set, artist miki kudo brings us the Charmander line of Illustration Rares. When observed together, these cards weave a captivating narrative. Charmander gazes at the sky, longing to take flight. Charmeleon stands at the edge of a cliff, knowing that one day it will soar through the air. Finally, Charizard spreads its mighty wings and ascends into the sky. These story-driven cards truly resonate with me, and it would have been ideal if the Pokémon TCG had organized the Special Illustration Rares alongside the regular Illustration Rares in binder collections.
Japanese sets often offer a glimpse into what English-language sets may include, so stay tuned for our coverage. We will provide previews of Scarlet & Violet cards and keep you updated on all things Pokémon TCG right here at Bleeding Cool.
