$30 Video Game Controller Utilized by the Absent Titanic Submarine

Tragedy seems to have struck a costly underwater expedition to visit the Titanic, as the passengers have mysteriously vanished in the depths of the ocean. A crucial point of discussion in this disaster is the control mechanism of the submarine, which was not a conventional steering device but rather a Logitech G F710 PC controller. Priced at $30, this controller, with slightly modified thumbsticks, was featured in videos showcasing the submarine prior to its ill-fated journey.

Contrary to some misconceptions, the Logitech G F710 is not a PlayStation controller, although it does bear a resemblance. It is compatible with Windows-based devices, including older versions like Windows Vista and Windows 7. It is important to note that there is currently no evidence linking the controller to the submarine’s issues, and it would be unfair to hold Logitech accountable since the functionality of “submarine control” was not its intended purpose. Nonetheless, Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, did mention the significant role of the game controller in operating the submersible before its launch.

If you have ever used a video game controller, regardless of the brand, you are likely aware of the potential wear and unreliability that can occur over time. This holds true for the Logitech G F710 as well. Reviews of this controller indicate that some users have experienced issues with button functionality, affirming the general notion that all controllers are prone to degradation.

It is worth noting that the Logitech G F710 is an older controller, and its exact release date is uncertain. However, there have been both positive and negative reviews spanning back to 2012. Although it still functions adequately today, the passage of time increases the likelihood of wear or malfunction.

Once again, it is important to emphasize that Logitech should not be held responsible for any potential faults in the controller as it was not designed specifically for submarine operation. There are countless factors that could contribute to a disaster of this nature, considering the confined space and lack of proper seating within the submarine. Only time will tell if the submersible is ever recovered, and if the cause of the accident can be determined.

In an attempt to gather further insight, I have reached out to Logitech for a comment on the situation and will provide an update if I receive a response. As of now, Logitech has not provided any comment. For more updates, follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
