It has been four years since the debut of Brie Larson as the heroic Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, and now we finally have a sequel titled The Marvels. In this highly anticipated film, Danvers will team up with Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan and Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau. New images from The Marvels have been unveiled ahead of its release on November 10, showcasing the formidable power of Carol Danvers, making her the strongest Avenger.

The Marvels not only continues Carol Danvers’ story but also serves as a quasi-sequel to the popular Disney+ shows WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, where Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan made their respective debuts. Additionally, the film will tie into Secret Invasion, with Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury. The heroes in The Marvels find themselves mysteriously connected, swapping powers whenever they use them. This reunites Carol and Monica, who first met in Captain Marvel when Monica was a child. However, the unresolved feelings regarding Carol’s absence during Monica’s mother’s death may cause tensions between them.

The formidable trio will face off against Dar-Benn, portrayed by Zawe Ashton, who represents the resurgence of the Kree Empire after a catastrophic confrontation with Captain Marvel. Dar-Benn rises from the ashes, bringing a new era of villainy. Behind the camera, director Nia DaCosta, known for her work on Candyman (2021), takes the helm. Notably, DaCosta is Marvel’s first Black female director. The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Matthew Jenkins, and Mary Livanos, with Megan McDonnell, a former staff writer for WandaVision, penning the screenplay. Laura Karpman is responsible for composing the film’s soundtrack, having also contributed to Ms. Marvel and What If…?
