Bing AI expanding to Chrome and Safari, but may not deliver optimal experience

Microsoft is expanding browser support for Bing AI, allowing Google Chrome and Safari users to access the chatbot. However, there are certain limitations compared to Bing Chat on Microsoft Edge.

A recent report by Windows Latest reveals that the character count for AI prompts has been reduced from 4,000 on Edge to 2,000 on Chrome. This means that conversations with the chatbot will be shorter on the third-party version, allowing users to engage in only five messages before everything resets. Normally, users can have up to 30 messages with the AI. Additionally, Bing will prompt Chromebook users to download Edge if they haven’t already. If Edge is already installed, choosing the download option simply launches the browser.

In addition to the expanded browser support, Microsoft has introduced a new dark mode option for the chatbot. By default, the theme will match the user’s system preferences, but manual customization is available in the Settings menu.

Future updates

It is unclear if Bing Chat on Safari will have the same functionality as the other browsers. Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement regarding any changes or tweaks. We have reached out to the company for clarification and to inquire about Bing AI support for other browsers like Firefox. This story will be updated if we receive a response from Microsoft.

In terms of future developments, Microsoft is seeking user input. According to a report by Windows Latest, the company has been sending feedback forms to mobile users, asking for suggestions on new features. One potential change is for Bing AI to recommend certain apps or tools to users. Another possibility is for the AI to mimic the personalities of famous individuals, such as Elon Musk. Microsoft believes that mimicking real people will create a more engaging experience.

We will keep you informed of any changes to Bing’s AI. For now, it remains the same artificial intelligence we are familiar with. In the meantime, you can check out TechRadar’s list of the best AI content generators for 2023.
