Barbie Has Officially Crossed $1 Billion at the Global Box Office

Barbie Achieves Incredible Milestone: Surpasses $1 Billion Box Office Worldwide

Not only did Barbie secure a third consecutive weekend at the top of the box office, but it also made history by crossing the $1 billion mark in global box office earnings.

According to Comscore’s report, Barbie collected an impressive $53 million in North America, experiencing a mere 43% drop compared to last week. As a result, Barbie’s total in the domestic market now stands at an impressive $459.38 million.

Despite fierce competition from the much-anticipated sequel, Meg 2: The Trench, Barbie managed to hold its ground and maintain the lead, while Meg 2 secured a respectable second place with $30 million. Internationally, Meg 2 amassed an additional $112 million, bringing its global earnings to $142 million.

In our review of Meg 2: The Trench, we branded it as “a lackluster sequel that heavily relies on imitating superior films within the genre. It is destined to be remembered as one of the summer’s major disappointments.”

Oppenheimer slipped down to third place, narrowly missing out on surpassing Meg 2: The Trench with earnings of $28.7 million during its third weekend in theaters. Oppenheimer’s total in North America has now reached an impressive $228.56 million, while its worldwide earnings stand at $552.94 million.

Additionally, Oppenheimer has become the 8th highest-grossing IMAX release of all time worldwide and is the second-fastest IMAX film to reach $100 million in like-for-like markets (excluding China, Japan, South Korea, and Russia).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem made a remarkable debut, generating $28 million in domestic ticket sales. The latest installment in the TMNT franchise also opened in 24 international markets, accumulating an additional $8.5 million and reaching a global total of $51.5 million.

In our review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, we applauded it for “exuding confidence, energy, and heart, and setting a new benchmark for the Turtles on the silver screen.”

Rounding out the top five is Disney’s Haunted Mansion, which earned $8.97 million domestically during its second weekend in theaters. Haunted Mansion has accumulated $42 million in North America and $59.6 million globally.
