Apple Watch’s watchOS 10 Introduces Widgets, Watch Faces, Mental Health Tracking, and Additional Features.

Apple has unveiled watchOS 10, its latest wearable operating system, at WWDC. The updated software features redesigned apps and a new Smart Stack for relevant widgets, as well as Workout Views and new watch faces. It also enables automatic pairing with Bluetooth-enabled cycling accessories, and introduces new Maps capabilities for hikers. Furthermore, watchOS 10 can now track users’ moods and emotions. Available for developers in beta version today, the public release will be later in the fall.

With redesigned apps and interface, watchOS 10 gives more ways for users to swiftly navigate and access content. Apple Watch now fully utilises the display for apps such as Home, Maps, Weather, World Clock, Messages and Stocks. The company has revamped the Fitness app on iPhone and the Activity app on Apple Watch to track daily movement.

The watchOS 10 release adds Widgets via the Smart Stack, which can be accessed via the digital crown. The side button allows users to access the Control Centre. New watch faces include Palette and Snoopy, both displaying time in different formats. The cycling workout can be used as a Live Activity on iPhone, and automatic connection with Bluetooth-enabled cycling accessories is now possible. watchOS 10 has new features for hikers too, including last cellular connection and emergency call waypoints, as well as a new topographic map display.

Apple has introduced a Mindfulness app to support users’ mental wellbeing. The app lets Apple Watch users track their emotions and moods throughout the day. Apple Watch can now measure daylight hours with a new ambient light sensor. On a different note, Apple’s WWDC also saw the introduction of tvOS 17 with new features such as FaceTime, Dolby Vision 8.1 support and a new Control Centre.
