Apple: Apple sets new iPhone record in India, says CEO Tim Cook

Apple has made significant advancements in India this year by opening its first two retail stores. During a recent investors’ call, Apple CEO Tim Cook reiterated the company’s focus on India and its potential for growth.

Cook acknowledged that Apple’s market share in India is currently low, as Android dominates the market. However, he sees this as a massive opportunity for Apple to increase its presence. According to a recent IDC report, Apple holds around 7.7% of the Indian smartphone market, making it the seventh largest player. Cook expressed his commitment to expanding Apple’s market share through investments in direct-to-consumer offers and channel expansion.

In addition, Cook shared that Apple achieved a record quarter revenue in India and experienced strong double-digit growth. The response to the company’s first two stores in Mumbai and New Delhi exceeded expectations, emphasizing India’s status as the second-largest smartphone market in the world.
