Anti-LGBTQ+ tweet leads to removal of Nickmercs’ ‘Call Of Duty’ skin.

Activision Blizzard has taken down a Call of Duty skin featuring FaZe Nickmercs due to an anti-LGBTQ+ tweet posted by the content creator. Esports commentator Chris Puckett condemned the attackers of pro-LGBTQ+ demonstrators outside a California school board meeting while Nickmercs stated his belief that the demonstrators should leave children alone. Widely condemned by other gaming community figureheads as harmful and dangerous, Nickmercs’ playable Operator skin was removed by Activision Blizzard. While Nickmercs has defended the controversial tweet, it’s not his first time sparking controversy, as he was criticised for promoting an event with no mask or vaccine requirements in 2022. Additionally, FaZe’s disastrous financial year saw Snoop Dogg exit the company, while co-owner Nordan ‘FaZe Rain’ Shat made sexist comments in response to Stranger Things actress Grace Van Dien joining the organization.
