An Astute Observation Points Out the MCU’s Most Triggering Song Post-infinity Saga

The inhabitants of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have undergone significant trauma, and a beloved Queen song may forever be associated with the devastating event known as the Snap.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos wiped out half of the universe’s population, reducing them to dust. Although they were eventually resurrected five years later, this period was incredibly difficult for those who remained. It is especially challenging when Freddie Mercury’s hit song “Another One Bites the Dust” resurfaces, bringing back painful memories.

One Reddit user has pondered the implications of life in the MCU and raised an interesting question on the r/MarvelStudios subreddit.

“I wonder if anyone could ever listen to that song after the Snap without experiencing flashbacks to being dusted or witnessing a loved one’s demise. I also wonder if the song was banned in public places after Infinity War and Endgame. It’s interesting to think if the song will ever resurface since it is canonically part of the MCU.”

The lyrics of the song align too well with the tragic events, making it highly likely that listening to it would evoke memories of the Blip. One can imagine the horror of witnessing loved ones turn to dust while Freddie Mercury sings, “and another gone and another one gone, another one bites the dust.”

In fact, someone recognized this connection when Infinity War was released in theaters in 2018. They created a dark yet humorous edit of the film’s final scenes, set to the iconic track.

Regarding the song’s fate in the MCU, fans had mixed opinions on whether it would have been banned from radio. Instances in the real world where certain songs were forbidden after traumatic events suggest that “Another One Bites the Dust” may have faced a similar fate in the MCU.

“After 9/11, radio stations owned by Clear Channel issued a memo prohibiting the playing of certain songs (including ‘Dust in the Wind’). I believe something similar would occur after a catastrophic event like the Snap.”

However, other fans argued that the inhabitants of the MCU displayed resilience in the face of triggers, as exemplified by the ice cream stand in Thor: Love and Thunder.

“Asgardians created an ice cream stand from the weapon that caused the event. I think the people of the MCU will handle it just fine.”

Based on the handling of the Snap thus far, it seems that most individuals swiftly recovered. Marvel likely desired to restore the status quo and continue with the next phase, minimizing the acknowledgement of past events. Nevertheless, many were disappointed by the lack of exploration of the Snap’s effects.

It would have been fascinating to learn more about how people coped during the Blip. However, the burning question remains: is “Another One Bites the Dust” still a popular song in the MCU?
