All You Need to Know about Asus’ Handheld Gaming Console, ROG Ally, Coming to India

Asus recently introduced its first-ever handheld gaming console, the ROG Ally, and it has now announced the launch of the device in India. Here’s all the information you need to know about the Asus ROG Ally.

The official Twitter handle of Asus ROG India has teased the upcoming launch of the ROG Ally with a captivating image and the message “Get ready for gaming that never stops.”

Price and availability:
In the US, the ROG Ally with a Ryzen Z1 chip (12GB/256GB) is priced at $600, approximately Rs 49,300. The higher-end Z1 Extreme model (16GB/512GB) is priced at $700, around Rs 57,300. Similar pricing can be expected for the Indian market.

Launch date:
Asus has not disclosed the exact launch date of the ROG Ally in India, but it is anticipated to be released in the next few weeks.

Specifications and features:
The ROG Ally boasts a 7-inch IPS LCD display with FHD resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display offers a brightness of up to 500 nits and covers the entire sRGB color space. Additionally, it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus for enhanced durability.

There are two variants of the ROG Ally available – the AMD Ryzen Z1 and the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. Both models come equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5 dual-channel memory and either a 256GB or 512GB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD. The Z1 variant features a six-core Zen processor with twelve threads and four RDNA 3 cores for the GPU, while the Z1 Extreme version offers an eight-core Zen processor with sixteen threads and twelve RDNA cores along with a 24MB cache.

The device is powered by a 40Wh battery pack and comes with a 65W PD charger. It is designed with dual fans and a copper heat pipe to ensure efficient cooling. Made of aluminum, the ROG Ally weighs 608 grams and measures 280 x 111 x 21.2mm.

Operating system and additional features:
The ROG Ally runs on a full-fledged Windows 11 Home operating system and includes a special edition of Asus Armoury Crate. As part of a promotional offer, Asus is providing a three-month Xbox Game Pass trial, allowing users to play games from various game launchers and streaming services.

The console features two analog thumb sticks with capacitive touch and RGB lighting, a D-pad, A B X Y buttons, left and right Hall Effect triggers and bumpers, and two assignable grip buttons on the back. It also supports six-axis gyro and includes command center and view buttons on the left, as well as menu and Armoury Crate buttons on the right side of the screen.

Connectivity and I/O:
For connectivity, the ROG Ally offers a Type-C combo port with USB 3.2 Gen2 support, a port for connecting external GPUs, a microSD card slot with support for UHS-II cards, and a headphone/mic combo jack. The console is equipped with dual-firing stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support, as well as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.
