Keeping secrets can sometimes be acceptable, but we would never keep the physical release of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ latest movie a secret. You Hurt My Feelings, one of A24’s newest releases, will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on August 22, 2023.
Written and directed by Nicole Holofcener, known for her work on Enough Said, You Hurt My Feelings tells the story of an accomplished novelist, played by Louis-Dreyfus. After facing publishing setbacks that leave her feeling insecure in her writing abilities, she hears her supportive husband critique her work, causing their marriage to unravel along with the lives of their loved ones. Tobias Menzies, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Outlander, portrays her husband, and the film also stars Arian Moayed and Michaela Watkins. Collider’s Ross Bonaime praised the film for its frothy comedy and light-hearted tone.
Is Honesty Always the Best Policy?
The movie revolves around Beth, a New York City-based author, and her husband Don, who works as a couples’ counselor. Despite their loving relationship, they navigate small but affectionate lies. Beth avoids answering a question about getting Botox, and Don refrains from telling her the truth about the effects of her own Botox treatments. However, when Beth overhears Don honestly expressing his opinion about her latest book to his friend Mark, their web of small lies begins to unravel.
The film will be released on both Blu-ray and DVD in August. The Blu-ray + DVD + Digital package will be priced at $24.99, while the DVD will have a suggested retail price of $19.98. The releases will also include special features like audio commentary with writer and director Nicole Holofcener and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who is also the star and producer of the film. Additionally, a special featurette titled “Just Being Honest: Making You Hurt My Feelings” will be included.
