YouTube TV expands multiview streaming to include non-sports content

YouTube TV has expanded its multiview feature to cater to a wider audience, encompassing more than just sports fans. Previously, multiview allowed users to watch up to four sports streams simultaneously. However, now users have the option to choose from streams with news, business news, weather content, as well as sports streams. While viewers still have to select from preselected videos and cannot freely choose their desired stream for multiview, they now have more choices and are no longer limited to having all four screens focused on sporting events.

The introduction of multiview initially took place in March, with a primary emphasis on sports, coinciding with NCAA’s March Madness. Multiview is compatible with all smart TVs and media players that support YouTube TV, as the processing is handled by the service’s servers. While viewers can keep an eye on all four streams concurrently, they can also switch to a full-screen view for each stream and customize the audio and captioning according to their current event of interest.

In addition to expanding the range of multiview options, YouTube TV is also including Spanish-language sports channels as preselected stream choices for members with a Spanish or Spanish Plus plan. Although some members may not have access to the expanded multiview options at the moment, YouTube TV plans to gradually roll out these updates to all users throughout the summer.

Excitingly, YouTube TV recently announced on Twitter that they are testing up to five brand new multiview streams, accessible 24/7, across news, sports, business news, weather, and Deportes. This innovation is a sign of YouTube TV’s commitment to continuously enhancing user experience and providing a diverse range of content options.
