Without Recasting, ‘RHOA’ is Doomed to Fail

In 2008, the reality television franchise for Bravo introduced The Real Housewives of Atlanta, featuring the first predominantly Black cast. Audiences fell in love with the hilarious and dramatic storylines, but fifteen years later, fans are getting tired of the same old faces and issues season after season. Ratings are low, and fans are calling for a shakeup. Even long-time cast members like Kandi Burruss, the current longest-running consecutive peach holder, are being called out for not bringing compelling storylines to the table. Similarly, Shereé Whitfield’s latest business venture, “She by Shereé,” has fallen flat and generated controversy over the use of slave labor. Meanwhile, Shereé’s baffling relationship with serial cheater Martell Holt is underwhelming, and fans are calling for a younger and fresher cast who are willing to reveal their lives and vulnerabilities. It’s time for Bravo to take the plunge and refresh the show with a new cast.
