Where To Find Lithium (Li)

Resource gathering is a core part of the gameplay loop of Starfield and, in most cases, happens naturally when you’re out exploring the cosmos. Materials like Copper, Nickel, and Aluminum come by naturally as a lot of planets have these resources to spare.

However, some resources are much rarer than others, forcing players to go out and specifically look for and find planets that have them in spades. Typically, these resources are needed for completing valuable research projects and upgrading unique equipment. Lithium is a tier 3 resource and falls under this category. Here is where you need to go to find it.

Which Planets Have Lithium

There are 65 planets and moons that we know of so far that can be mined for Lithium. Here are some of the most notable places with this resource.

• Copernicus Minor I-a, Copernicus Minor
• Copernicus V, Copernicus
• Copernicus VII-b, Copernicus
• Heisenberg VI-b, Heisenberg
• Heisenberg VIII-a, Heisenberg
• Maheo IV-d, Maheo
• Hyla VII-a, Hyla
• Porrima II, Porrima
• Porrima III, Porrima
• Porrima V-a, Porrima
• Porrima VI, Porrima
• Ixyll IX-b, Ixyll
• Heinlein VI-c, Heinlein
• Bardeen IV-a, Bardeen

Copernicus Minor I-a in Copernicus Minor and Heisenberg VIII-a in Heisenberg are the best places to mine for Lithium as they are only home to two other resources, H2O and Cl, allowing Lithium deposits to take up most of the rest of the planet’s surface.

How To Mine Lithium

There are two methods to mine Lithium in Starfield.

• Use A Cutter: Lithium deposits can be found on planets rich in this resource, and you will be able to mine them using a sufficiently powerful cutter quite handily.
• Mining Outpost: Lithium extractor costs 5 Iron, 2 Tungsten, and 4 Aluminum to make. Pair it with a power source to have it run autonomously until you’re ready to collect.

You can also find random caches of Lithium and other resources in Abandoned outposts inside chests and containers. However, this is not a sure-fire way to get your hands on some.

If you’re not seeing Lithium in the vendor’s inventory, you can refresh their stock by waiting anywhere for 24 hours. Waiting a full in-game day resets the clock on merchant inventories and adds new items.
