WhatsApp: WhatsApp may soon roll new sidebar and group chat filter feature

As per an online report, WhatsApp is working on a new group chat filter feature for WhatsApp Web. According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging platform will soon enable users to categorise their conversations easily as they will be able to sort their chats based on specific filters, and a new sidebar to offer improved navigation.
WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of the upcoming WhatsApp feature. As per the screenshot, the interface is very similar to the one that’s currently under development on WhatsApp for Android: we have three different filters that will allow users to better organize their chats based on unread messages, personal conversations, and group chats. In addition, WhatsApp has plans to bring a new revamped sidebar, that’s very similar to the one available on the native WhatsApp for Windows app.
Introducing a functionality enabling users to filter their chat display to show either personal conversations or group chats enhances organizational efficiency. By distinctly categorizing these chat types, users can swiftly locate specific conversations, enhancing navigation efficiency and facilitating meaningful engagement with the appropriate chats.
The new sidebar and the group chat filter feature are under development and they will be released in a future update of WhatsApp Web.
WhatsApp support for 18 smartphones ending on October 24
The popular messaging platform, WhatsApp, is scheduled to stop operating on select Android and iPhone devices starting the upcoming week. Starting October 24, 2023, WhatsApp will no longer provide support for specific older smartphone models.
“To keep up with the latest advances in technology, we routinely stop supporting older operating systems to point our resources to supporting the latest ones. If we stop supporting your operating system, you’ll be notified and reminded a few times to upgrade your device to continue using WhatsApp. We’ll also update this page regularly to ensure that the latest Android version we support is listed here,” added WhatsApp.
