WhatsApp is finally coming to iPad: All the details

For years now, WhatsApp has resisted developing an app for the world’s most popular tablet — the iPad. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has always dodged and never given any solid explanation for not having an app for iPad. However, now it looks like WhatsApp is finally coming to iPad. According to a report by WABetainfo, the platform that tracks changes and features in WhatsApp, a beta version of the app can now be installed by iPad users.
How to get the beta version of WhatsApp on iPad
For starters, you need to be a beta tester of WhatsApp. If you are one, then using the TestFlight app, you can download the beta version of the iPad-compatible app. Once you have down that, you have to do exactly what you do to set up WhatsApp on a Mac or any other companion device. On your iPhone open WhatsApp, head to Settings and then Linked Devices. Tap on Link Devices and a QR code will come which will need to be scanned using your iPad.
According to the report, once you have set this up, you “will be able to use WhatsApp on your iPad independently, without needing your phone to be connected to the Internet.”
What to expect from the iPad app?
The report suggests that all your messages on WhatsApp iPad app will be synced with your phone — and this will work for both iOS and Android devices. After all, you can have an Android phone and an iPad and not necessarily an iPhone. As expected, the messages will be end-to-end encrypted on the iPad app of WhatsApp.
It is not known when the app will be rolled out to the public. Having said that, WhatsApp released a dedicated app for Mac after close to a year of having it in beta.
