What are the Nightfall Weapons in Destiny 2 This Week? – A Guide to Nightfall Weaponry

Do you want to know the weapon for this week’s Destiny 2 Nightfall? Every week a different weapon is available for completing Nightfall Strikes, and since the Season of the Lost, fan-favored legacy weapons from the original Destiny have been included in the rotation. With new seasons bringing new weapons into the rotation, it’s essential to know the Nightfall weapon schedule in advance.

Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist accessible from the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike option in the free PC game. Every week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall and offered in five escalating difficulty levels with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and power levels cranking up. While Nightfall weapons have a chance of dropping from any Nightfall Strike, it is far more likely at higher levels. So, it’s essential to maximize your chances with Destiny 2 Lightfall’s recent release. Your best bet for farming the Nightfall weapon each week is to set the Strike to Master difficulty or Grandmaster difficulty if you have a fireteam for the task.

What is the Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon this week?

The Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon from June 6 to June 13 is THE SWARM, a Legendary Arc machine gun. Popular rolls for this weapon include Outlaw/Dragonfly and Killing Wind/One For All.

This week’s Nightfall strike is The Disgraced, which is in the middle range of Nightfall difficulty. In it, players will head to the Cosmodrome to fight the Hive Wizard Navôta and an onslaught of Hive enemies. Completing this week’s Nightfall grants you a chance to earn THE SWARM.

Grandmaster Nightfalls will return on June 20. Completing a Grandmaster Nightfall grants a chance to earn an Adept version of that week’s weapon. Just as in Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris, Adept weapons get +3 to every stat (except impact) when masterworked, as well as the usual +10 to the masterwork stat, and are the only guns that can equip powerful Adept mods, so they’re well worth seeking out when they’re available.

Destiny 2 season 20 introduced Nightfall weapon focusing with Commander Zavala. To focus on a Nightfall weapon, you must have acquired it at least once. Focusing costs 1 Vanguard Engram, 20,000 Glimmer, and 50 Legendary Shards. Grandmaster Nightfalls will also now grant players the opportunity to collect Adept Nightfall Ciphers, the number of which changes based on the players’ Nightfall completion score. A platinum score grants two shards, gold grants one shard, and silver grants no shards.

Zavala will also offer one Adept weapon for focusing each week. This will cost three Vanguard Engrams, 50,000 Glimmer, 50 Legendary Shards, and 10 Adept Nightfall Ciphers. Players can only hold ten Nightfall Ciphers at a time.

Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon schedule

The Nightfall weapon changes weekly with the Destiny 2 weekly reset at 5 pm UTC every Tuesday. As of season 21, six weapons are currently on rotation in the Nightfall loot pool. They are:

  • Buzzard – Sidearm
  • THE SWARM – Machine gun
  • Wendigo GL3 – Grenade launcher
  • Hung Jury SR4 – Scout rifle
  • Braytech Osprey – Rocket launcher
  • Loaded Question – Rocket launcher

Destiny 2 Lightfall Nightfall updates

Last season, Battlegrounds from season 16 and season 19 joined the Vanguard Ops playlist. The Mars Battleground from season 19 appeared as a Grandmaster Nightfall in season 20, with other Battlegrounds to follow in the future. Bungie recently reworked the Lake of Shadows and The Arms Dealer Strikes, which have been “re-imagined and upgraded to match the combat engagement levels of some of our more recent strike entries,” according to Blackburn. Both now appear in the Nightfall rotation.

Destiny 2 Nightfall difficulty levels

Bungie outlined changes in Nightfall difficulty as of Lightfall. There is no longer an Adept level, and the difficulty levels are as follows:

  • Hero: 1770 Power
  • Legend: 1830 Power
  • Master: 1840 Power
  • Grandmaster: 1840 Power

Nightfalls also impose Power level disadvantages, set as follows:

  • Hero: -5 Power levels.
  • Legend: -15 Power levels.
  • Master: -20 Power levels.
  • Grandmaster: -25 Power levels

This means the maximum effectiveness targets are as follows:

  • Hero: 1765
  • Legend: 1815
  • Master: 1820
  • Grandmaster: 1815

Bungie also introduced a system of Surges and Threats that can make such activities easier when playing specific subclasses. Surges increase elemental damage by 25% and will have a seasonal featured element, and weekly rotating Surges. Meanwhile, Threats will increase enemy elemental damage by 25%. Nightfalls feature Overcharged weapons, which add 25% more damage and increase kinetic damage by 25% when using a Surging subclass. Surge damage and Overcharges do not stack. Enemies are also now more challenging.

Finally, Nightfall challenges now require a score of 200,000 points across multiple Nightfall runs, as opposed to a score of 100,000 on a single Nightfall run.
