Vampire Survivors emerged as the surprise winner at the BAFTA Games Awards, creating a truly shocking moment during the ceremony. The indie game took home two prestigious trophies, including Best Game Design and the highly coveted Best Game prize, surpassing the leading game God of War Ragnarök, which had received six nominations. Even the developer, Poncle, admitted on stage that they weren’t expecting to win. In a surprising turn of events, God of War Ragnarök also claimed the Audio Achievement award, surpassing Metal: Hellsinger, a rhythm-based first-person shooter that combines demon-slaying with rock music.
