Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes arrives next year

Developer French-Bread has officially announced the upcoming installment in the Under Night series. French-Bread and Arc System Works are set to release Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes in 2024, available on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Serving as the sequel to the original Under Night In-Birth, UNIB II will mark the “final chapter” of the Hollow Night storyline that began over a decade ago. Combining a light novel narrative with fighting game action, Under Night offers a unique blend of genres.

Categorized as an anime fighter, Under Night is a highly enjoyable game within the subgenre. With Under Night In-Birth II, players can expect an expanded move list, new character abilities, and updates to the battle system. The addition of an EXS button suggests a beginner-friendly control scheme akin to auto-combos.

For fighting game enthusiasts, the exciting news is that Under Night In-Birth II will feature rollback netcode. This feature enables players to enjoy online battles with a stable connection, setting a new standard in the genre. French-Bread and Arc System Works are rightfully emphasizing the importance of this inclusion.

Unleashing the World of Under Night

Attendees of Evo 2023 will have the opportunity to experience Under Night In-Birth II firsthand as Arc System Works’ booth will be hosting gameplay demos. However, Under Night is not the only new fighting game in town. This weekend in Las Vegas, we also have Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8, and Riot Games’ Project L. Let’s not forget the ongoing tournaments featuring numerous currently released fighting games at Evo.

Fighting game enthusiasts are in for an exhilarating weekend. Personally, I am thrilled to see Under Night receive a well-deserved sequel. It is a game I frequently find myself returning to, and I am eager to see what French-Bread has in store for us.

Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes is expected to launch on PlayStation, Switch, and PC sometime in 2024.
