After more than two years since its release, Cyberpunk 2077 has achieved an overall “very positive” rating on Steam.
Undoubtedly, the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was infamous, plagued with severe bugs that still haven’t been completely fixed. However, according to CD Projekt Red global community director Marcin Momot, the game has finally reached a “very positive” rating on Steam. Momot expressed his gratitude on Twitter, stating, “Cyberpunk 2077 Steam reviews are now sitting at ‘Very Positive’ with 80% of all scores being favorable. Thank you all for acknowledging all the hard work the team has put in over the years since the release!”
This turnaround is quite remarkable considering the game’s initial poor performance that prevented many players from enjoying it. It’s crucial to acknowledge the flawed state in which it was launched, despite CD Projekt Red’s vice president of public relations, Michal Platkow-Gilewski, suggesting otherwise. Last month, Platkow-Gilewski claimed that it was “cool not to like” Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, disregarding the genuine issues it faced. I, too, experienced the game’s shortcomings when playing it for the first time on PS5, where it ran as if it were a slideshow. Clearly, it falls far from being a perfect game. Let us remember that it wasn’t even available for digital purchase on the PlayStation store for several months.
Nevertheless, Cyberpunk 2077 has managed to redeem itself in the eyes of some fans, which is good news for CD Projekt Red, as the game’s first DLC, Phantom Liberty, is set to be released in September. According to our own Dom, it might just deliver what the base game failed to provide.
