Internet users across Ukraine have faced outages following a technical failure on the network of communications company Kyivstar.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Kyivstar said that the technical problems had meant that communication services and internet access in parts of the subscriber base might be unavailable.

It was not immediately clear if the outage is linked to Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure, which over the course of the war started by Moscow have caused cuts to water supplies and electricity.

“The company’s specialists are working on eliminating the problem,” its statement said. “We apologize to subscribers for the temporary difficulties and thank you for your understanding.”

The statement prompted more than a thousand comments from users asking how they could access internet services and when they would start running again.

Ukrainian media outlet 24.tv.ua advised the network’s users to change to another operator which could be done “in a few minutes.”

This is a developing story which will be updated with further details.
