Ubisoft Director reveals Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s lack of DLC plans

Prepare yourself for the highly anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This upcoming stealth game from Ubisoft is set to bring the series back to its roots with a more condensed and less RPG-heavy experience. What’s even more intriguing is that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will not have any DLC or expansions, offering players a complete experience from the get-go.

It’s not common for a triple-A game like Assassin’s Creed to launch without plans for additional content of that scale. While it’s not necessarily needed, it’s noteworthy to hear that Ubisoft has no such plans for Mirage at this time.

Although plans could change, this response was provided during a recent Assassin’s Creed Reddit AMA where multiple Ubisoft developers took the time to answer questions about the game. It seems that this “narrative-driven” installment of Assassin’s Creed is bringing about significant changes.

According to Assassin’s Creed Mirage creative director Stéphane Boudon, “For now, Mirage has no plan for DLC or extensive post-launch.” While this statement leaves room for potential changes, it’s safe to say that there won’t be a big focus on extra content before the game’s release.

It’s worth noting that there are multiple versions of Assassin’s Creed Mirage with minor extras, such as outfits for Basim, cosmetics, digital artbooks, soundtracks, and physical bonus items like a figurine.

In the AMA, Boudon shared more details about the game. He mentioned, “For parkour, we are focusing on fluidity and control, drawing inspiration from several Assassin’s Creed games. Back ejects and side ejects, which were present in the pre-AC3 games, are not part of our parkour system. However, we are meticulously working on small details to ensure players have the best control of Basim. We are continuously fine-tuning the parkour mechanics to enhance the feeling of fluidity and agility when traversing the city of Baghdad.”

Another exciting feature revealed for Mirage is the inclusion of a comprehensive photo mode. This mode will even feature a classic Assassin’s Creed Mirage gameplay filter that aims to recreate the look and feel of the original 2007 game.

When questioned about the skill tree in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Boudon stated, “We’re still fine-tuning the skill tree. Skills are interconnected, requiring players to unlock a path to access the next skill. Most skills can be unequipped, except for those related to a newly added tool. Armor and outfits cannot be unequipped, but players can visually override them with a Costume.”

This AMA provides a wealth of key information about the game as you eagerly await its release. In the meantime, we’ve compiled a list of essential RPG games you should try out on PC, including some of the best open-world games, with Assassin’s Creed among them.
