Two classic Pokemon games join Nintendo Switch library today | Gaming | Entertainment

The August Pokemon Presents conference was brimming with exciting updates and unexpected announcements for avid Pokemon enthusiasts. Alongside revealing new details about this year’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Pokemon Company delighted fans by announcing the addition of two beloved Pokemon games to Nintendo Switch Online today (August 8). These games include the original Pokemon Trading Card Game, initially launched for Game Boy Colour, as well as the well-known Pokemon Stadium 2 from Nintendo 64.

First launched in 1998, Pokemon Trading Card Game challenges players to seek out the most exceptional Pokemon cards to construct the ultimate deck.

Today, all subscribers can access the game via the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy app.

In addition, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers have exclusive access to the nostalgic Pokemon Stadium 2, which is available for play starting now.

Aside from the core battling system, Pokemon Stadium 2 offers an array of Pokemon-themed mini-games suitable for up to four players.

It’s important to remember that Nintendo Switch Online is priced at £17.99 per year, while the Expansion Pack upgrade can be purchased for £34.99 annually.

While the core service provides access to NES, SNES, and Game Boy titles, the Expansion Pack grants members access to Mega Drive, N64, and Game Boy Advance titles. Furthermore, Expansion Pack members receive DLC for games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon 3.

Additionally, the Pokemon Presents conference offered fans a glimpse into the highly anticipated sequel to Detective Pikachu.

Titled Detective Pikachu Returns, this Nintendo Switch exclusive introduces a captivating storyline where players explore crime scenes, interview suspects, and ultimately solve thrilling cases.

The game is set to release on October 6 and can be pre-ordered from the Nintendo eShop beginning today.

Lastly, Pokemon fans were treated to an extensive preview of the Scarlet and Violet DLC, including the release date for its first expansion.

The initial part of the Hidden Treasures of Area Zero DLC, titled The Teal Mask, will be available for download on September 13.
