Undoubtedly, ChatGPT is a remarkable achievement in the field of human engineering; an algorithm that even perplexes its creators. While a versatile language model like ChatGPT has its practical applications, it appears that some influential figures in Hollywood have misunderstood its capabilities.
The Writers Guild of America initiated a strike over a month ago, citing wage disputes and concerns about AI bots like ChatGPT replacing jobs as the primary reasons for this transformative industry walkout. However, the validity of these concerns is questionable.
In a recent interview with CBS, Yahlin Chang, executive producer of “Supergirl” and “The Handmaid’s Tale,” sheds light on this issue and explains that even if Hollywood eliminates writers and relies on ChatGPT for scriptwriting, the result would only be derivative work.
“You’ll witness exceedingly unoriginal, mediocre, and subpar content. AI has never experienced the joys of parenthood or the emotions of falling in love. Consequently, what you’ll end up with is stolen and decidedly inferior.”

Although Hollywood may currently entertain the notion of AI replacing real creatives, the studios will inevitably recognize the limitations of this technology as shareholders and top-level decision-makers become informed.
